Borussia Champions League clash falls victim to the weather – yes, rain!
Borussia Monchengladbach boss Andre Schubert felt his team was overwhelmed by Manchester City as it crashed to a 4-0 Champions League defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

In Prestbury, Greater Manchester, 32.4mm of rain fell in an hour, which meteorologist Mark Wilson described as “pretty exceptional”. See PA story SOCCER Man City.
Borussia Monchengladbach believe the postponed Champions League match at Manchester City will be rearranged for Wednesday, with the Bundesliga club pushing for an afternoon kick-off.
It’s 21 goals in seven games so far for City, which can only get smoother under Guardiola. This was City’s seventh straight win to open the Spaniard’s coaching tenure and his team’s attacking intensity was too much for Moenchengladbach to handle. “That’s why Manchester City won so clearly”.
City had a friendly with Manchester United in Beijing cancelled in July as a result of heavy rain. The hosts continued to dominate the game and doubled their advantage when Aguero tucked home from the penalty spot on 28 minutes, after Ilkay Gundogan was brought down by Christoph Kramer.
The Argentinian made it 3-0 midway through the second half before Kelechi Iheanacho completed the rout in added time.
Pep Guardiola believes little credit should go.to him for Aguero’s goal scoring tenacity in the beginning of the season. He’s a special player.
“We made good things and bad things [at the derby] but it’s just three points”.
He added: “He’s an fantastic player. His qualities are going to help us a lot”. We are not happy with that, but we have to take it like it is.
Gundogan hailed his “perfect” debut after a compelling contribution before being substituted to a standing ovation on 80 minutes.
“We are going to work until the last moment to convince the people to come here and join us, to watch the Champions League games”. We knew how important it was today to win the first game. “We have to get everything right and be very courageous”.
The fact that the game was originally scheduled last night clearly had an impact on the attendance. But we’re very happy.

“I was not here, I don’t know what happened, but they must forget what happened in the past”, the manager said. He was not ready to play 90 minutes, that is what I thought.
