Boston College: 80 sickened after eating at Chipotle
“We agree with health officials that it is likely a norovirus, which seems very consistent with the pattern here”, Chipotle spokesman Chris Arnold told ABC News in a statement.

Race eats at the Chipotle on South Boulevard once a month, but with no confirmed E. coli cases in Charlotte and none at all happening after early November, she never hesitated before heading inside today.
Initial testing of people who got sick after eating at a Chipotle restaurant in Boston showed the presence of norovirus, health authorities said Tuesday.
“Right now, we don’t have any indication that there are any issues with the Chipotle’s here”, Anderson said, though she added that the food chain is still investigating exactly what caused the students to fall ill.
“Norovirus is usually transmitted from the feces to the mouth, either by drinking contaminated food or water or by passing from person to person”, according to Foodborne Illness.
As many as 80 students have reportedly fallen sick after eating at a Chipotle restaurant located near their college in Boston. The Boston Herald said those sickened included members of the college’s basketball team.

City inspectors shuttered the location temporarily on Monday after uncovering violations that included an employee working a shift while sick and meat not being stored at proper temperatures. It causes as many as 21 million illnesses annually, often in places such as hospitals, cruise ships and universities where people eat and live in close quarters. The first cases were reported at the end of October in OR and Washington, with additional cases later being reported in seven other states.
Chipotle officials said they are working to ensure food safety.
Executives said the chain may eventually raise prices to make up for its investments in improving food safety standards.
Oppenheimer analyst Brian Bittner posted a “research note” telling investors now might be a good time to buy Chipotle stock, citing an outbreak in 2006 that was linked to Taco Bell restaurants.
Chipotle shares fell $8.75, or 1.6 percent, to $543 in afternoon trading Tuesday.
A statement by the CDC released on Monday read, “CDC has not received any reports of people infected with the outbreak strain of STEC O26 in MA related to the multistate outbreak linked to Chipotle”.
MA is not one of the states affected.
Health officials report there are now 65 known case reports that include Boston College residents, students, and non-BC patrons, but the information is constantly evolving.

While an ACC team losing to a team that just went Division I two years ago is almost inexcusable, we might be able to give the Eagles a slight pass on this one, considering eight of their team members came down with E.coli before the game.
