Boston Red Sox beat Cleveland Indians in season opener, 6-2
The Indians and Red Sox return to action tomorrow night at Progressive Field for game two of the series. Jackie Bradley Jr. scored on the play.

Price (1-0) gave up two runs and five hits in six innings, giving the Red Sox an immediate payoff after they signed the left-hander to a $217 million, seven-year contract.
Price quickly settled into the game and held the Indians hitless and scoreless through three innings, striking out six of the first 10 batters he faced, including four in a row at one point.
There is no doubt to anyone that the Boston Red Sox can win the World Series behind their new ace in David Price, their new and improved bullpen, their veteran leaders, and the experienced young players. And, as usual, so did David Ortiz.
Asked about his start to the season after the win, Ortiz delivered an All-Star answer: “The light goes on, Papi goes on”.
The Indians were more productive the second time around, scoring two runs on four hits in the fourth inning. The Boston Red Sox are expected to have a bounce back season in the tough AL East, and if their opener is an indication of things to come, it’s going to be a successful year.
Price cruised through the first three innings before allowing his first hit in the fourth.
The Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox were ready to begin the 2016 season but Mother Nature was not.
The homer, the 504th of Ortiz’s career, came on the heels of a spring training that saw him hit just.
Also pitching for the Tribe were Ross Detwiler and Trevor Bauer.
Besides his ability to throw his fastball in the upper 90s, and his strong location Price has a lot more to offer to the Red Sox.
Boston won the series opener on Tuesday, by a score of 6-2. “I wish he would have retired this year”.
Ortiz batted just. 178 during spring training, but he’s locked in now that games matter.
“That’s why he’s got Jordans on his feet”, a thankful Price said.
“I’ve been doing this for quite a while now”, Price said. He’s saving it all for the season. “The opposing pitchers don’t want to see him in that box”. However, he has struggled in the postseason going a combined 2-7 with a 5.12 era. The previous record was 36 degrees on Opening Day in 1907. “This jersey that we wear today, it doesn’t say ‘Red Sox.’ It say ‘Boston'”.
Opening Day in Cleveland was postponed about two hours prior to the 4:10 p.m. ET scheduled start due to a forecast of precipitation and wind chills in the teens.
The opener will also mark Boston manager John Farrell’s return to the dugout after he stepped away last August to receive medical treatment for non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt lymphoma.
The Red Sox knocked Kluber around in the sixth with three straight inning-opening singles. On Shaw’s single to right, Ramirez aggressively rounded second and slid safely into third. Holt wasted no time driving in his first run of the year with his second single of the game. He hit a solo shot last season in a win at Philadelphia. Sox 2-0. Price allowed the Indians to tie the game up in the 4th when he gave up an RBI single to Gomes and then an RBI sac fly to Byrd.
As for Ortiz, did the homer have him reconsider his stance on retirement?

Red Sox: RHP Carson Smith (strained flexor muscle) has been throwing in Florida. If the Indians are going to avoid yet another slow start, they need the group to do better over the next week while Chisenhall and Brantley recover.
