Boston Red Sox: red hot Dustin Pedroia takes time off

On Monday night, the Royals will return to Kauffman Stadium to open another crucial series against the New York Yankees. But the 2015 champion Royals, seven games under.500 entering play on August 6, are right back in the picture. Obviously, not every player on the Royals roster fits that description, but quite a few of them do.

“If you’re going to have any kind of sustained winning streak, it’s got to be everybody”, manager Ned Yost said after his team’s eight-run inning led to a 10-4 win over the Boston Red Sox in the rubber game of the three-game series Sunday night. “Get back here tomorrow, get to work and next time make the results a little different”.

Salvador Perez hit his third solo homer in two games for Kansas City, which took two of three at Fenway Park and got its 17th win in 21 games.

The Red Sox (72-58) are two games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East, and they are a game ahead of the Baltimore Orioles for the first AL wild card.

“That one’s one me”, Barnes said. “It’s unfortunate that it happened and I’m just going to try to get as healthy as possible as quickly as I can”. “And then the rest of the team kept playing”. The Boston Red Sox have an ERA of 4.15 and have lost five straight games when allowing more than three runs. Just a really good hitter.

Brock Holt had three hits and drove in two runs, Travis Shaw had three hits and Chris Young added a tiebreaking two-run double for Boston.

Kansas City Royals’ Alcides Escobar covers his face as Boston Red Sox’s Mookie Betts (50) rounds second base on his solo home run during the fifth inning of a baseball game in Boston, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016.

Seven consecutive Royals reached base in the sixth.

There was a time when last night’s 10-4 Red Sox loss to the Kansas City Royals was relatively low-scoring.

The reigning World Series MVP has been at the heart of the Champions’ resurgence over the past month, as he’s clubbed five home runs this month, including three in the past two games.

Dombrowski traded Porcello away from the Tigers to the Red Sox and then inherited the pitcher during Porcello’s 9-15 first season in Boston. And if a guy can run down a ball in the gap, he can probably steal a base or go first-to-third, second-to-home or in Lorenzo’s case, first-to-home. Next hitter Mondesi, he jumped a first pitch heater and I went back and looked and I thought the pitch was to him maybe not a good pitch, but in the grand scheme I thought it was on the outer corner of the plate. Innings three through five, he was throwing the ball extremely well, he was efficient, putting the ball on the ground, a lot of bad contact in that three-inning stint.

Eduardo Rodriguez (2-6) gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings before the bullpen allowed five more in the sixth.

Perez, who homered in his final at-bat Saturday, led off the second inning with his 20th of the season, one shy of matching last year’s career high.
