Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe buoyant ahead of tough tasks at Chelsea

Defeat to newly promoted AFC Bournemouth via Glenn Murray’s 82nd minute header leaves the Blues three points above the relegation zone after 15 games while they also lie on the precipice in the Champions League.

Bournemouth lie 18th after failing to win since September, and face Manchester United after Chelsea.

“Time wasting? That’s not part of what we do”.

This season has been so frustrating for Chelsea and their fans.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said a top-six Premier League finish may be the best his side can hope for after an eighth defeat of the campaign against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The atmosphere at Chelsea is downbeat but the team need to pick themselves up for a crucial Champions League group game against Porto on Wednesday night. But we didn’t succumb to pressure, then our moment came from a set piece.

Chelsea’s miserable start to the season prompted the public backing, after four wins and five losses in 11 games in all competitions.

Both of these two sides have had their fair share of bad luck this season; the Cherries’ fine performances haven’t been rewarded by a positive league standing, while Chelsea’s woes have been compounded by a series of poor refereeing decisions or critical moments that have gone against the Pensioners.

‘We were a bit passive in the first half – we were not intense enough to create problems, but in the second half we did that.

“For us, this win can’t be in isolation”, Howe is quoted as saying by The Mirror. “That’s just us”, he explained.

“It’s hard for us to score goals”.

Bournemouth players have been banned from celebrating their shock win at Chelsea with a Christmas booze-up.

“You think there is an evolution but the next day you realise it’s not evolution it was just an individual moment, and to get results you have to be consistent and we are not”.

The Portuguese again bemoaned missed opportunities against Bournemouth, who last season won the Championship, but afterwards repeated his claim he would not seek transfer activity in January to improve his squad.

“Jordan is a young goalkeeper we really like and really believe in”.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho felt the Blues should have had a penalty before Murray’s victor when a Diego Costa cut-back hit Simon Francis on the arm. “That is not only today but in every game it’s like that because we are always more dominating than our opponents”.
