Bowling Green vs. Ohio State 2016

The Ohio State offense seemed to be a lot closer to the 2014 edition than the 2015 version on Saturday against Bowling Green (0-1) as the Buckeyes rolled up a school-record 776 yards en route to a 77-10 victory.

In other Big Ten Conference games, Wilton Speight threw three touchdown passes in the first half and No. 7 MI beat visiting Hawaii 63-3 in its most lopsided victory since 1975. Redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber pounded out 136 yards rushing on 19 carries.

“We just have playmakers everywhere”, Ohio State center Pat Elflein said. “I took a lot out of it from the leaders on that team as far as what it takes to play at that level and perform in those last three games”. Barrett should be considered a darkhorse Heisman contender. Sep.

Tulsa had a big opening game of their own, dominating San Jose State, 45-10, so they’ll be heading into the Ohio State game with some confidence. First-year Bowling Green coach Mike Jinks called the outcome a “butt-whooping” and said it would be hard to find positives.

“Experience is a challenge for us right now, but I think once we get a game under us, we’ll be all right”. “We made about every mistake that you could possibly make, so there’s only one way to go and that’s up”, Jinks said. The Bowling Green Falcons, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer’s former squad, came in ready to compete.

No doubt, Meyer’s fifth Ohio State is off to a good start. Barrett and Curtis Samuel connected nine times for a couple of huge downfield plays.

There was lost time to make up for and maybe something to prove. You had to put in complete effort all the time or you would stand out so bad it would be uncomfortable, and you would probably quit-and we had lots of people quit. So I think this year we will be a very well prepared team, ‘ explained JT Barrett. He’s driving the auto and he’s never had that this time of year.

But while the turnover in personnel is significant, one thing that never changes about Ohio State football is expectations. The kid that played for us a year ago, I can’t remember his name, probably would have pulled through a couple more.

Ohio State’s defense held Bowling Green (0-1) to 244 total yards. “Let’s chat in about four weeks now see how we’re doing”. One such position where a replacement is needed is at H-Back where they have to replace Braxton Miller. “They played pretty good”, Meyer said. A dominant showing by the Buckeye defense combined with redshirt junior quarterback J.T. Barrett’s seven touchdown performance helped the buckeyes start the season on a winning note. Eight receivers had catches while six different players scored touchdowns.

After the Buckeyes’ defense forced Bowling Green to punt on each of its next two possessions, Barrett led touchdown drives of 91 and 73 yards, respectively. Conversely, Ohio State will be lining up several new starters at wide receiver, tight end, and running back, so the Bowling Green defensive coaching staff will need to be prepared in a comparable manner.
