Box enterprise deal yields new content tools
With IBM StoredIQ with Box, customers will be able to search on-premise and Box-based data, classify it and upload it directly back to the Box Platform. Capture highlights metadata like when and where the photo was taken, and then other team members can discuss captured photos and videos in real time.

Today at BoxWorks, I shared a few exciting new ways that Box is building the next-generation enterprise content management and collaboration platform.
“The last decade of IT has focused on driving innovation and productivity inside organizations, but cloud and mobile are also completely redefining how businesses can deliver new services and experiences to customers and partners”, said Box co-founder Aaron Levie [pictured]. IBM Content Navigator is an interface and development platform that clients can use to shape the content experience for both their desktop and mobile ECM solutions.
The products include support for new kinds of content like HD video; expanded integrations for content collaboration; a new mobile app called Box Capture for connecting content in the field; as well as the new Developer and Enterprise editions of The Box Platform for building enterprise apps.
Case Manager is created to help companies share Box data with external third-party sources. By integrating technologies for enterprise-class data security, access control, threat detection and secure mobility, IBM and Box plan to enable secure enterprise collaboration. In addition to Document Watermarking, we’ll add support for Device Trust to provide intelligent control over sensitive content without impacting the simple user experience you expect. Earlier this year we introduced Box Enterprise Key Management (EKM), which enables customers to manage their own encryption keys for Box content, leveraging Amazon Web Services Hardware Security Modules (CloudHSM).
Box also announced support for AWS’ new Key Management Service, which allows customers to manage encryption keys from within a cloud environment, and expanded its information rights management offering with new Device Trust support. To provide better management of bandwidth and more direct connectivity for content-heavy applications, we’re giving customers the ability to choose their own network connection to Box.
More than 40 million users and 50,000 businesses rely on Box for secure collaboration, including 52% of the Fortune 500. Users can add comments to a photo before uploading it to a folder in Box, so they can make requests to supervisors or put notes on a photo before making it available for collaboration.
Cloud storage company aims to stay competitive in the enterprise market with new products. Box is headquartered in Los Altos, CA, with offices across the United States, Europe and Asia.
