As Rohit Shetty’s romantic drama “Dilwale” battles it out with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus “Bajirao Mastani” at the box office, reports hint that it is “Dilwale” which is leading the way if the opening figures are anything to go by.
It was heard that Dilwale has collected $ 3.4 million ( Rs 22.61 Crore) in overseas. As per officials, Bajirao Mastani first day collection is 12.8 crores. It would be interesting to see if Bajirao will race past Dilwale thanks to a word of mouth publicity and the content that will be etched forever in our cinema-scope!
Dilwale, released in 3200 screens across the country, got off to a fabulous start with 70 per cent occupancies in the early shows. Johar said in his Tweet.
Mumbai: It was a good Friday at the Bollywood box office with big budget films “Dilwale” and “Bajirao Mastani” raking in over Rs 20 crore and Rs. 12 crore respectively on the opening day itself.
As expected, the opening was best in Maharashtra.
Both the movies are grand in scale. But, there are two more days to end the first weekend. Inox now operates 102 multiplexes and 402 screens in 55 cities making it a pan-Indian multiplex chain while PVR is the market leader with 490 screens across India. Despite releasing with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s Dilwale, Bajirao Mastani has managed to attract the audience to the theatres and is continuing to do so. They are creating huge buzz about the movie everywhere which has generated a wave of Dilwale over box office.
