Miami-Dade Police Detective Robin Pinkard identified the child as Amiere Castro.
On Monday, a 13-year-old boy was shot in the torso near Miami.
He was airlifted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in unknown condition. “He is now undergoing surgery”, said Eloi.
Witnesses said there were about 30 people in the restaurant when an older man yelled at the suspected gunman that his order was up, at which point the dispute escalated – local Fox affiliate WSVN reported. According to the Miami Herald, police say the shooting, in Richmond Heights, about 24 miles southwest of Miami, involved a high-powered rifle.
Relatives of the victim said the boy, named Amir, lived in Homestead and was visiting their house. They called the police. “As this is an active police investigation, we ask that you contact the Miami-Dade County Police Department for additional details”.
The shots came from a white pickup truck carrying four men that fled the scene, Miami-Dade police Deputy Director Juan Perez told a news conference, a recording of which was published online by the Miami Herald. “It’s becoming a nightmare to us”.
