Mike Carlile said that the parents of Kaiser wanted the Bee Jays to continue playing – and winning – in the National Baseball Congress World Series.
Carlile was retrieving a bat and was running past the on-deck circle following an out.
They went on to play against the Haysville Aviators on Sunday night.
Carlile, described as a Bee Jays superfan, had been with the team throughout the summer as its only bat boy.
“Please keep his family and our team in your thoughts and prayers”, it said.
The Bee Jays manager notes that the umpire behind the home-plate, Mark Goldfeder, was a “Godsend” for the critically injured boy in the moments until the ambulance could arrive.
The Liberal Bee Jays were one of many teams participating in the event, and were in the midst of a game against a team from San Diego when the accident happened.
“He didn’t see him at all and took a swing right as the bat boy went by and hit him right in the back of the head”. Thank you all for the support during this ordeal!
Kaiser Carlile’s summer job was to bring players baseball bats during games.
The BeeJays asked fans to show support by wearing clothes with his initials on them.
“Over the speakers came a child had been hit at the ballpark”, Van Dyke said.
The hospital could not provide any other details about Carlile’s condition or treatment.

Liberal president Nathan McCaffrey issued a statement after the game. During this tragic and emotional time, may God bless Kaiser and his baseball family.
