Democratic state Sen. David Haley of Kansas City said Tuesday that he’s hoping there will be bipartisan support for a review.

Pettey said in a telephone interview she left the park before the incident that led to the boy’s death.

The former director of the National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) pointed out to news outlets today that amusement parks and water parks are exempt from federal regulation. The Labor Department can conduct random inspections of the records and certificates of inspection.

The Kansas City Star said the park was teeming with children of legislators and their parents enjoying free passes when the accident occurred.

House Majority Leader Jene Vickrey said lawmakers’ immediate focus is on supporting the Schwab family. “Verruckt will not reopen for the remainder of the season”. Castaneda also said that he had ridden Verruckt earlier in the day with his younger cousin, who said her Velcro seatbelt began to come undone toward the end of the slide. It stands at 168 feet tall, which is about the same height as Niagara Falls. However, some people told news outlets that the safety measures weren’t working properly that day.

Riders are harnessed in with two nylon seatbelt-like straps – one that crosses the rider’s lap, the other stretching diagonally across the shoulder. He says he told workers about the loose strap.

Last summer, Kenneth Conrad and his best friend Matt rode the Verrückt.

He said he had not filed a complaint.

The park will be closed Monday, and the ride will be closed pending the investigation.

Authorities in Kansas City say Caleb Schwab, the son of a state politician, was killed while riding Verrückt, a water slide dubbed the tallest on Earth.

Police said Caleb suffered a fatal neck injury.

Pastor Clint Sprague, the family spokesperson for the Schwab family said they’re heartbroken. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday afternoon. The firm said neither the family nor its lawyers would make public statements about the incident until an investigation is over. He says the women do not know exactly what happened because it happened so fast. Police have confirmed the boy died of a neck injury and People magazine is reporting law enforcement confirmed Caleb was decapitated. Two adult women who were in the raft with him suffered minor facial injuries.
