A 7-year-old California boy who spent two years growing out his hair so he could donate it to cancer patients was diagnosed with Stage 4 aggressive cancer just weeks after cutting off his locks, according to The Washington Post.

“I want to help people so they don’t have to go to the doctors to fight cancer”, Vinny told the KTXL television channel, of his voluntary efforts.
It was Vinny Desautels’ mother who first told him about cancer.
It can be considered to be such a selfless act coming from a child, but due to unfortunate turn of events, Vinny was also diagnosed with cancer.
When Vinny’s parents took him to doctors, they found “significant” growths in his hip, the bone of his eye, his cheek, and behind his nose.
But it wasn’t long before Vinny started to have health problems of his own, explaining that his “eye was getting heavy”.
Vinny Desautels’ parents initially thought seasonal allergies were to blame for his puffy right eye.
“He recently donated his hair to ‘wigs for kids with cancer”. His parents, Jason and Amanda, noticed that Vinny had a lump on his right hip. The next day, doctors inspected his right eye, which had become progressively more swollen, thinking it and the hip growth were related.
The 7-year-old remains in good spirits, but he is realistic about his diagnosis. But after some tests, doctors discovered that the little boy had developed a stage 4 cancer.
“Even though he was teased throughout the two years of growing his hair out, it didn’t deter him from his mission…to help a child in need”, Vinny’s grandparents wrote on a GoFundMe page for their grandson.

Almost $80,000 has been raised on a GoFundMe page set up for Vinny and his family to help with expenses while he undergoes treatment.
