Boykin helps No. 2 TCU rally past Kansas State, 52-45

Plenty of time for Boykin and Doctson to do their thing. The first time was last weekend, when they lost to the nationally ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys.

TCU kept pace with both Baylor and Oklahoma State with the win. Two years ago, we lost this game and ended up going on and winning the Sugar Bowl. “It gave us hope.”.Unless, of course, you’re Baylor visiting Kansas.KNOXVILLE, Tenn.

The Bears needed slightly more than two minutes to drive 75 yards for their first touchdown and went on to score on each of their first eight possessions. “We’ve just got to be ready to come in there with the right attitude and be hungry”. If you don’t do that, no matter how you played, if you got beat 3-0, it doesn’t matter.

It’s the highest ranking for the Bears in program history. The Longhorns are 1-4, the team’s worst start since 1956. The Sooners gave up 603 yards of offense to the Hurricanes.

“It’s what everybody signed up for, ” West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen said Monday on the weekly Big 12 coaches teleconference. “It’s what you have to do. Now they believe me”.

With the potential for a seismic shift in the postseason landscape at hand, Trevone Boykin was having none of it.

“The options were run, throw it or kick the field goal”, Snyder said. The Cowboys will be in Morgantown to face West Virginia, which made too many mistakes in losing its Big 12 opener at Oklahoma. “We thought he would be a factor in our season and it’s worked out that way”. On Monday, Snyder admitted the team should have looked for the first down. Both stayed in the thick of the Big 12 title hunt. They can’t be counted out until the clock hits zeroes. Tech absolutely blew away Iowa State who did the same to Kansas. But a bigger concern is that it won’t get any easier for the Cyclones’ defense as TCU and Baylor approach the next two games.

“Everyone heard about the loss we took, so we have that weighing on our shoulders”, Wildcats offensive lineman Terrale Johnson said. That will keep the pressure on the offense. Defensively, TCU is allowing 27.5 points and 386.8 yards per game. Defensive end/linebackers Eric Striker and linebacker Dominque Alexander lead the OU defense. There was no way Kansas was going to hang with the Baylor offense, but the defense hasn’t been slowing anyone down, taking its foot off the gas with the games out of reach.

Trevone Boykin finished with 425 all objective yards and 4 touchdowns. It’s a process, but this was a key piece of the puzzle, proving that OSU is truly in the upper part of the Big 12 pack.

Georgia Tech entered the game ranked sixth nationally with an average of 311 yards per game.

Defending national champion Ohio State still is the No. 1 team in the country.

The Wildcats won’t have much time to think about this loss, as Oklahoma is headed to Manhattan next week for a 2:30 kick on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2. The Red Raiders have allowed just one sack in 211 passing attempts.

On defense, the Wildcats were led by sophomore Elijah Lee, whose two interceptions were the first of his career. Northwestern entered Saturday’s game with the top-ranked scoring defense in the nation.

Need to know: 6 p.m., Milan Puskar Stadium, ESPN2. Richardson has thrown five picks in his last two games.

Hubener also had a great day rushing, but struggled in the passing game.

Traditionally, Oklahoma bounces back well. It might showcase a lot of very good ones, which are differentiated by a few combination of logic and luck and late-game magic. Talk about equally matched teams, though the Mountaineers took a devastating blow when senior safety Karl Joseph sustained a season-ending knee injury during practice this week. In receiving, Charles Jones had 72 yards in a catch while Dominic Heath added 49 yards in three receptions.

TCU takes on Kansas State on Saturday for the continuation of the college football schedule, start time at 7:30 PM ET, at Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium. He’s second nationally in total offense with almost 409 yards per game.

The second quarter saw Kansas State outscore TCU 28-3. He has one touchdown run, in seven carries, over 36 yards. K-State could have tied that game with a successful drive here.

Freshman L.J. Scott scored on a three-yard off-tackle run with 43 seconds to play, giving the Spartans their school-record 11th straight conference road win. The Wildcats have not defeated a top-five opponent at home since beating No. 4 Texas in 2006.
