“When talking to him last night, he was stunned, he was disappointed”, Kelly added. I think we were surprised he was still around in the sixth [round].
Kelly wouldn’t be the first coach who isn’t that close to his players. However Boykin has the talent to potentially crack the Steelers starting lineup if their current crop of corners underachieve. “As an older guy, you love to see a younger guy like him”.
“The things that I did during that period are the things that are required on the football field”, he said.
“Perception is reality, whether the public wants to believe it or not”, Boykin said. “Me and a lot of other guys don’t feel the same way”. What was the problem with you and Chip, and how did that relationship end? That could rise to the fourth-round if the cornerback plays in more than 60% of the Steelers defensive plays this season.
“Mike Kendricks is not going anywhere”.

Kelly signed running back DeMarco Murray, who is black, to a $42 million deal this offseason to replace McCoy. Boykin probably would have left Philadelphia in free agency after this season.
