Brother Kurt Busch, however, did go bump in the night on the last lap. His win Saturday night was his first at Daytona.

Conversely, Tony Stewart solidified his position in the Chase despite crashing with 11 laps remaining to be classified 26th.

Keselowski recruited Logano to the team the season after Keselowski delivered Penske his first Sprint Cup title.

BEST CAR WON – Whether you love Keselowski or loathe him, this much is irrefutable: The best car won at Daytona.

So instead of basking in the triumph of victory while wearing a champagne-soaked white shirt, Roger Penske was borderline angry in his impassioned defense of drivers Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano.

UP NEXT: A Saturday night race at Kentucky Speedway, which was won previous year by Kyle Busch as he charged into contention for the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. I started the race, I qualified on the pole, I led however many laps at the start of the race when they called me down pit road but I was not in the auto when it crossed the start-finish line. It was either benefit all I had or try to direct him in on the twelfth I think here we we know pretty good down the backstretch and we pushed him off and a different breed. That 41 was. Really had a momentum on the inside and around going advantages we kind of lost the ability to to get back the feeling. (No. 17 Fifth Third Bank Ford) coming home fifth. Trevor Bayne finished third and was followed by Keselowski teammate Joey Logano and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.as Ford drivers took four of the top five spots.

Amazingly, eight cars involved in the wreck got back on the lead lap. We were all straight and fine, and they slowed up a little more than I could. At the same time, I don’t want to leave 39 points out of 30th either.

The strategy paid off as Stewart exited the Big One without a scratch. “But look, I wouldn’t trade these two drivers for anyone”. The spectacular wreck at one point left Brian Scott riding with his rear tires on top of Kevin Harvick’s roof, and many other top names were taken out in the incident. But he still got credit for the win.

Larson was sixth and the highest finishing Chevrolet. Larson’s first four attempts on this track were marred by crash damage and 30th-place results.

“It was a real fun session”, Hamilton said. “A lot of guys around us in the points had bad nights so we made up some points on them, which is good”.

“He’s a calculating guy, and you’re not with him every day like we are in the shop, (seeing) what he brings to the race team”, Penske said.

Penske is used to defending Logano, who was recruited to the team by Keselowski three years ago when Keselowski was unselfish enough to look past a teammate who could match him on the track and saw only a talent who could strengthen the organization. I believe in my team and my team believes in me, and we went to work and we put together a better vehicle, and it really showed with a great effort from the whole team.
