Brad Keselowski wins crazy crash-fest at Talladega

“There’s still people paying to sit in the stands, sponsors still on the cars, drivers still willing to get in them”. Meanwhile online viewers can watch NASCAR on Fox live video stream of the GEICO 500 from Talladega online using mobile devices. “This has always been a special place to him and certainly great to be here and have the opportunity in Sprint Cup”.

There now are four Cup races at Daytona and Talladega – including the series’ prestige event, the Daytona 500 – and those are not likely to go away. Dillon finished sixth, but Stewart will get the points as the driver of record per NASCAR rules.

“Man, this is cool”, he said.

“I hate going for rides like that”. It was pretty wild how all that went down, but we had a good vehicle.

“It’s been a awful day, something broke off Carl’s vehicle there on the track and came up into us”, Jr. said. “They brought another fast one here”.

No doubt the safety issue will be revisited before the restrictor-plate pack heads back to Daytona in July. That makes the rookie two for two this season for SuperSpeedway poles.

(18) Kurt Busch, Chevrolet, 188.

“I’d have caught it if I would have been warned”, Earnhardt said. Dillon’s Chevy went flying in the night at the end of the last lap of the Coke Zero 400 last summer. “That first run was as wide-open as I’ve had it. As I remember it in a while at times of the first run, probably three-quarters of that first run”.

The caution returned with just seven laps to go when Danica Patrick and Matt Kenseth got together and both went hard into the inside wall, with Kenseth hitting the wall on his roof.

Austin Dillon qualified second for Sunday’s race with a lap at 192.424 miles per hour. They will be in Talladega’s Gatorade Victory Lane to assist in awarding the Freedom Trophy. “A lot of good stuff happened with RCR here, so hopefully we can continue that streak of good runs for RCR here”. “We need to jump on this and try to get it before the next couple speedways in order to keep them on the ground”.

Dale Jr. got the wheel back in place and left the GEICO 500 after an unrelated crash. All four of his wins – 2009, 2012, 2014, 2016 – had some sort of dramatic element to them, perhaps none moreso before today than his first in 2009 that will be remembered for Carl Edwards cutting across his nose at the finish and ending up in the fence.

Earnhardt’s problems started on Lap 49, when he lost control coming off Turn 2 and spun. Whether it was Denny Hamlin or Danica Patrick spinning out in their pit stall, or even the wrecks on the track, the drivers of NASCAR raced with tremendous anxiety against each other. That should be insulting to every driver in the field.

“I really appreciate Ty (Dillon)”.

“Crazy day. Somehow we managed to stay ahead of or out of all the chaos, ” Keselowski said. (He told them it usually comes in the first three laps). “It was going, I saw it going and I was like, ‘Oh damn'”.

“Second’s not bad”, Busch said.

“It doesn’t matter where you qualify, but just expected to have a little more speed”, Busch said. Busch wasn’t sure that strategy will work at Talladega. “I haven’t had fire on the inside before”, she said. I think it’s more of a, you know, person that doesn’t really know what goes on.

Some drivers have been critical of France skipping the meetings, so his presence was welcome.

Keselowski didn’t say that to be trite.
