Pitt’s representative declined to comment and referred BuzzFeed News to the statement the actor made Tuesday after Jolie filed for divorce: “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids”.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) says it is not investigating Brad Pitt over child abuse allegations, contrary to reports.

The FBI has jurisdiction over the situation because the alleged incident occurred in the air while the family was flying from France back to their L.A. home, a source tells PEOPLE.

Los Angeles police sources did not confirm whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation would be handling the case, but did say that Pitt is not now being investigated by the department. A source within the Department of Children and Family Services confirmed to KTLA that DCFS was investigating and said that LAPD was aware of the investigation.

A source claiming to be close to Brad tells both TMZ and People, “He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children”.

“We have no report in our record for any filings for Brad Pitt, we are not having any investigations regarding Brad Pitt”, police spokesman Lorenzo Quezada told AFP. And right now, that is where our office is.

We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing.
