“We have no criminal investigation that we are actively pursuing”, Sgt. Barry Montgomery told THR.

People and TMZ reported that the incident took place on September 14, the day before the date Jolie listed as the official date of separation between her and Pitt in her divorce filing earlier this week.

Meanwhile, a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) spokeswoman said: “The LAPD is not handling any reports or allegations into child abuse against Mr Brad Pitt”. According to TMZ, Jolie’s decision to split from Pitt was due to allegations of child abuse relating to an incident occurring last week.

This would mean Jolie, 41, and Pitt, 52, separated the following day, and just a few days later, she filed for divorce.

The FBI is “continuing to gather facts” about the reported child abuse allegations against Brad Pitt.

“He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children”, a source told TMZ.

A source close to the actor has denied the reports and said that people are presenting him in the negative light. ET has also reached out to the Pitt and Jolie’s reps as well as the LAPD.

She has asked for physical custody of their six kids – Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 – and didn’t ask for spousal support.

The site also says that DCFS has interviewed both Brad and Angelina, and the children will be interviewed as well.

Pitt released the following statement on Thursday, according to People Magazine. Representatives for Pitt have not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Jolie’s lawyer Robert Offer said the actress had filed for the dissolution of the marriage “for the health of the family”.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids”, he said in the statement. They have three biological and three adopted children together.
