Jolie filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences as grounds for the split, court documents showed.

They may have started their relationship amidst broken marriages and controversial pasts, but for whatever reason the ongoing relationship between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie sparked hope in the minds of celebrity fans looking for an example of a love that will last. We knew that if we could get through this, we’d come out even stronger and happier.
This is the second marriage for Pitt, who previously Wednesday Jennifer Aniston. It’s the third for Jolie Pitt, who was previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller. “I think we found this odd friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened”, Jolie told Vogue in 2006. After officially getting together in 2005, they only continued to build upon their blossoming happiness. “In our domestic life, we’re Mom and Dad”, Jolie said in a 2015 Wall Street Journal.
Their relationship was steady fodder for tabloids with reports focusing on what role Jolie played the breakup of Pitt’s marriage to actress Jennifer Aniston, and, more recently, possible trouble in the marriage.
“Since then the global media has scrutinised their every move and followed their growing brood around the world, despite the couple guarding their privacy fiercely”.
Brad Pitt has supported the ONE Campaign, an organization aimed at combating AIDS in the developing world, and has supported efforts to build environmentally friendly housing for people in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The other parent (in this case, Pitt) may have visitation rights but does not have any custodial rights, and can’t make any decisions impacting the child.
She has also been a well-known symbol in the battle against cancer, having undergone a double mastectomy and removal of her ovaries and fallopian tubes to prevent an aggressive form of the disease that killed her mother, aunt and grandmother. She’s married to French actor Guillaume Canet and has a child of her own.
In 2008, Jolie gave birth to twins, a son and a daughter.
While doing press for the film, Jolie and Pitt appeared to be the very picture of marital bliss.

“Angelina’s decision to file has to do with the way Brad was parenting the children. she was extremely upset with his methods.”
She made the announcement in the form of an op-ed she authored for The New York Times. “I didn’t feel much competition”, Pitt cracked.
In August 2014, Jolie and Pitt exchanged vows in a small chapel at the Chateau Miraval, their Southern France home in the Provence hamlet of Correns. Daughters Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw flower petals.
The couple first became close on the set of Doug Liman’s Mr and Mrs Smith in 2004.
One magazine does have Pitt and Jolie’s break-up on its cover, though.
