Bradford: ‘Goal’ is to Play This Weekend vs Titans

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Shaun Hill is the definition of a journeyman in the NFL. The deal, made after quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tore his ACL and dislocated his left knee on August 30, plucked Bradford from the Eagles’ starting lineup and has forced him to learn a new offense eight days before the start of the regular season. Zimmer either will start Bradford or Shaun Hill in the opener at Tennessee, but he said Wednesday he will not announce his decision before the game.

“You really approach it the same, ” Bradford said of this week. Command of the offense. Know where to go with the ball. I know he’s been here working hard to try to do that.

We break down the fantasy implications of Sam Bradford learning the Vikings offense quicker than expected.

Zimmer said Monday that Bradford and Hill would split first-team reps in practice. If Sam Bradford can help bring this team to the next level during the 2016 season, Spielman could look like a genius for this gutsy trade. They thought that was changing before Bridgewater’s injury, but Peterson said it didn’t change his outlook. The defending NFC North division champs are looking to get off to a strong start in 2016, and are likely hopeful Bradford can lead them back to the postseason.

REPLACEMENT PLAN: The Vikings gave up a 2017 first-round draft pick, plus another selection in 2018 that could reach as high as the second round based on conditions, to get Bradford from Philadelphia.

Pardon the 11-year veteran for thinking 2016 would be his time to finally carry a team across the threshold when general manager Rick Spielman, coach Mike Zimmer and anguished teammates tossed confidence bouquets at Hill’s feet last week after Teddy Bridgewater mangled his knee.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and Vikings GM Rick Spielman pulled off one of the biggest trades of the National Football League season and explained how everything went down to MMQB’s Peter King.

Taking the starting job or not, Bradford stated that he will give his best to prove critics wrong.

If Bradford eventually can show the form he displayed in the only game he played against Minnesota, the Vikings no doubt will be quite happy.

Bradford, who was acquired by Philadelphia via trade during the 2015 offseason, set Eagles franchise records in completions (346) and completion percentage (65.0) and finished fourth in team history in passing yardage (3,725) in his lone season with the team.

There were reports Saturday by several media outlets, including ESPN, that Wentz is expected to start the Eagles’ season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 11 if he is healthy enough to do so. The Eagles on Tuesday traded.
