Bradford: I believe Chip Kelly is a good coach
“I feel like it’s time”, he said at the time.

Lurie said he fired Kelly this week rather than after Sunday’s final regular-season game against the Giants so that the team could get a head start on the search for his replacement. He’ll do a great job there.
“I signed a four- or five-year deal and I think this is where I’ll be”, Murray said. He had a 26-21 record as coach. The Eagles fired Kelly on Tuesday after three seasons. Murray is also averaging just 3.5 yards per carry, by far the worst of his career. Chip’s a great coach, he’ll end up somewhere. Belichick took a shot at those former Eagles, without naming any names.
“I want to see a guy who really cares about his players and isn’t so set in his ways so we can all go in the same direction”, Johnson said. “He does a great job and he’s done a great job with that team”, Belichick said, per ESPN. We then asked Bradford if Kelly is a good football coach. “But, I mean, look, I’m not there”.
“I know Chip’s an excellent football coach and I really like him, ” Ryan said. To build that up over time, it doesn’t happen in training camp”, Belichick said adding, “It takes some time to go through that.
His answer might come as a surprise. Jenkins said it just didn’t work as well as it should have.
Belichick had the benefit of winning a Super Bowl in 2001, which clearly helped his grasp on the head-coaching job in New England.
“We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward”, Lurie said in the statement. “[The team needs to] get back to a more traditional style of offense”. They’re just not a good team period and the Washington Redskins deserved to win the NFC East division, they were truly the better team on both sides of the ball. “[In] ’03, that was a good football team”. “We’re the ones out there making the plays. I have nothing but good things to say about him”. He can sell them on his ideas and use his rah-rah personality to bond with the impressionable young minds – a technique doomed for failure when you deal with the massive, bling-filled personalities in the NFL. “But that wasn’t the case in ’02”.

“You have to change the culture”, he said. The coach that comes in usually has a different philosophy than the coach that left, so you have to try to implement that philosophy. Lurie was concerned by Kelly’s inability – or unwillingness – to connect with his players, and the lack of productivity by numerous players Kelly acquired in the offseason after he was given complete control over personnel. I’m not part of those programs. As most people know, Belichick is a man of few words and doesn’t waste time with the media on anything he doesn’t want to.
