Bradford in fold; Vikings not declaring starter for opener

That leaves the Broncos in the uncertain hands of QB Trevor Siemian, who has exactly one play on his official stat line: one rush for -1 yards. You can follow Matt on Twitter @mattvensel. Man, that was a tough loss for the Vikings in the playoffs. I think sometimes if… you expect yourself to immediately take a jump and get better… it can get frustrating, because it’s a long process, and it takes time… They’ve got to be focused. “I thought he was playing as well as anyone I saw a year ago”, Spielman explains.

“I’m going to lead them”, Zimmer said. Now the NFL Odds for the game have the Vikings favored to pick up the win in this one on the road.

According to a report from ESPN, the Vikings made the move to acquire Bradford from the Eagles.

Zimmer’s decision to hold off on his decision means that the Vikings are now the only team in the National Football League that hasn’t yet named a starting quarterback for Week 1. How has the team reacted? We’re just trying to figure out the best way to do it.

Take away the quarterback and nobody’s really thinking about just how complete this team is. But there was blood in the water, and teams knew. “I’m going to come in and give it everything I have”, Bradford said. He’s neither stayed on the field long enough, nor been good enough when he is on the field, to warrant what Minny gave up for him. Zimmer added that this week will be explosive for both Bradford and Hill as they compete for the starting place. “I would anticipate (Bradford starts), and if he doesn’t, it’s not going to change how we prepare”. Nothing was too shocking about the players listed as starters, but the order of their backups is where things begin to get interesting. Bradford will show that his experience on the field will complement with the Vikings system. I think they learned lesson there about rushing. That is exactly what Bradford has needed throughout his career to this point.

“I would call it more of a shock, ” Hill said. “We’ll see how it goes”. “As far as what percentage that is of the playbook, I dont know. A lot can change over the course of the week of practice.

Wyatt: What are the strengths of the Vikings heading into the regular season? Their defense, they don’t have that one superstar, a J.J. Watt or a Von Miller type right now. What really was significant for us was the second year of the contract with Sam.

“Always and forever, defense wins championships”, said defensive end Everson Griffen.

“I watched every game Sam played last year, and the last three games, I thought he was playing as well as anyone I saw last year”. So this is a deep, young athletic group. Whether he will start is up to Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, and he was noncommittal about that.

The 2016 Minnesota Vikings have a small window left with one of the greatest running backs of all-time in Adrian Peterson. And even though the writing appears to be on the wall that Bradford will eventually take over the Vikings offense, whether it is this week in Tennessee or sometime soon after, that hasn’t stopped Hill from making it clear that he would like to win the job.
