Brady steps up for embattled Manning
Near the beginning of the film, Davies said that the claims “raise questions” whether “Peyton Manning is linked to performance enhancing drugs”.

Manning’s representatives have admitted that Ashley Manning had prescriptions from the clinic, a fact that Al Jazeera established by secretly recordinging interviews with Charlie Sly, a former Guyer Institute employee who has since recanted his claims. Manning’s agent, Tom Condon, did not deny that Ashley – who gave birth to twins in 2011 – received supplements, and Manning confirmed he was a patient at the Guyer Institute, where Sly worked. “We’re not making the allegation against Peyton Manning”.
Al Jazeera reporter Deborah Davies stands by her story, and Huffington Post included a transcript Al Jazeera provided between Davies and a woman at the institute, in which she confirms his employment in 2011. Sly says on the hidden camera that Ashley Manning was sent drugs.
“We told Al Jazeera that and they don’t seem to be concerned with the truth”, Cartmel said. Although in the US the drug can only be obtained with a doctor’s prescription and is banned by many professional sports organizations, such as the National Football League and the Olympics, as revealed in the documentary, some medical professionals can help athletes not only obtain the drugs, but also pass sophisticated drugs tests. “It’s defamation and it really ticks me off”, said Manning, speaking with ESPN Sunday afternoon. Following Al Jazeera’s report that Manning had been sent HGH supplements during the 2011 season, Brady spoke up in support of his fellow quarterback on his weekly appearance on WEEI Monday morning.

Brady obviously has had plenty of experience denying questionable allegations this year with the Deflategate controversy, but he said he doesn’t feel the need to offer Manning advice. But the five-time NFL MVP emphatically said that he is angry at the report that he received HGH. Sly has since recanted the story and told Al Jazeera the statements attributed to him are absolutely false and incorrect. Guyer used similar language. There needs to be more research into the allegations so they can either clear the players who are innocent, or figure out which of those mentioned have actually been doping. Davies said. “That’s not something a journalist could find. But that section follows a very long journey charting our investigation into banned substances, one of which is growth hormone”, Davies added. It takes 40 minutes into the 50-minute documentary before the show starts focusing on the Denver Broncos’ quarterback.
