Brandon Marshall Is Staying in NY

Sports, the New England Patriots and jettisoned wide receiver Brandon Marshall have a mutual interest which could lead to the Super Bowl champions signing the former New York Jets wide receiver in free agency.

However, they still need to address their offensive line. How should fantasy owners gauge the Giants offense with Marshall now in the mix? He will now be playing alongside Eli Manning and Odell Beckham. In fact, Marshall in terms of physical stature is only one inch shorter than Plaxico, while maintaining about the same weight.

For Marshall, the move makes plenty of sense. Will help especially in red zone and on third downs. Will Brandon Marshall bounce back with a strong year in 2017? Because he’s butted heads with players, coaches or both in each of his previous four stops, managing to make it about himself and not the team in all of them.

The parting of ways was mutually beneficial. “If Marshall were to be signed by the Patriots, he’d have a much better chance of earning a ring, let alone making the playoffs”, Newsday’s Kimberley A. Martin said in her report. When he’s at his best, Marshall is more than capable of being a No.1 wide receiver. However, he has one career punt return for a touchdown against the Redskins, and he’s returned 26 punts for 318 yards against Washington over his career.

Marshall would provide a massive target opposite Odell Beckham with second-year man Sterling Shepard often operating out of the slot.

Marshall, according to the Daily News, tested positive for Adderall, which during the season is considered a performance-enhancing drug. He amassed 59 receptions for 788 yards and only 3 touchdowns.

Now that Steve Smith Sr. has retired, the Baltimore Ravens have a big hole at the wide receiver position.

The Giants get an elite playmaker just a year removed from a 109-catch, 1,502-yard, 14 touchdown season with the Jets. NY used Victor Cruz on the outside last season but being a slot receiver, he was playing out of position.

Clearly, the Giants are trying to revitalize their offense around quarterback Eli Manning, who turned 36 years old last month. His contract represents great value and although his age is a concern, it should not drastically hamper his production. He is also tied for third on that list with 18 catches for the Broncos vs. San Diego on September 14, 2008 (one of the players he is tied with is Dallas tight end Jason Witten, who caught 18 passes vs. the Giants on October 28, 2012).
