That’d be Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall-not the New York Jets wide receiver-who took a knee during the national anthem before winning in the league’s season opener against the Carolina Panthers.

“I’m not against the military”, Marshall said following the game.

Marshall was later removed from the game, but not because of his protest.

Following Thursday night’s thrilling 21-20 win against the North Carolina Panthers, Marshall spoke out on his decision to kneel in protest of social injustice.

The latest development: Air Academy Federal Credit Union has dropped their endorsement deal with the 26-year-old defender. “We wish Brandon well on his future endeavors”, the company said.

Meanwhile, other fans believe that the boycott of the NFL over Colin Kaepernick and Brandon Marshall’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem is laughable.

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane and soccer star Megan Rapinoe also kneeled during the United States anthem recently in support of Kaepernick’s message.

Kaepernick was joined in his protest by teammate Eric Reid at the 49ers’ final pre-season game, while Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane remained seated during the anthem at a recent pre-season game against the Oakland Raiders. “I lost an endorsement, but that’s OK”. “… When it comes to the NFLPA, I don’t have problem saying what’s right, whether it upsets somebody or not”.

Marshall also stated his protest wasn’t against Police or military. In the eyes of a lot of people, I’ll be respected. “A lot of people are proud of me because stand up for what believe in”. I know my family will support me.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said during the preseason that he encourages his players to stand for the anthem but respects their decisions and will not “babysit” them.

“We live in a great country and part of living in this country is we get to choose”, Pagano said today. “I’m not against the military, the police or America at all”.
