Brandon Weeden cut by Cowboys
Wide receiver Dez Bryant ripped the media last week for not supporting the Dallas Cowboys and being overly critical of his play in a locker-room incident that gained national attention.

Weeden averaged 222 passing yards in his three starts with one touchdown pass. Cassel averaged 202.3 passing yards with four touchdown passes.
Good thing, considering the team was 0-7 while he was absent with a broken collarbone and the task that lies ahead if the 2-7 Cowboys are to get into playoff contention.
“I took about a week off because you can’t do much from really anything with a broken collarbone physically, and then from there you end up kind of getting into the routine and mine was the back stuff”, Romo said. Mainly the fact that Romo doesn’t play defense and the Cowboys have been beaten by teams that even without Romo they should have won. Dolphins lead series, 7-5. Weeden was benched in favor of Matt Cassel prior to Week 7. But don’t sleep on him, especially going into next year after he has a full offseason with the Dolphins. The Cowboys were simply not almost as good as so many, especially their fans, thought they were going into the season.
“I know he’s excited and it’s been a tough seven weeks, and it’s not just him being out”, Witten said. Weeden started the next three games following Romo’s injury, completing 72.4 percent of his passes for 738 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. One of the things we are trying to do is create an environment for him where he can come be his best. “You want to have guys like that, but at the same time, you got to go back and do what you’re supposed to do, and Tony really understands that balance”.
Weeden, 32, was with the Cowboys since 2014, serving as Romo’s primary backup.
The Cowboys also waived cornerback Corey White and running back Christine Michael.
As for the Dolphins, they need Ryan Tannehill to become the quarterback that he was previous year. One player offered an unsolicited observation Wednesday, saying the Cowboys had more energy in practice simply because of Romo’s anticipated return.

Romo will face a Dolphins team whose defensive line includes Ndamukong Suh, who sacked Romo twice last January for the Detroit Lions in a wild-card game that saw Dallas rally to win 24-20. Rookie DB Byron Jones, primarily a safety, is in for a challenge given Landry’s size, speed and relentlessness. The Dolphins have allowed a 117.3 passer rating over the last three games, though top corner Brent Grimes is expected to play after sitting out last week due to a stomach ailment.
