News outlets reported that the 41-year-old actress filed for divorce from the 52-year-old actor Monday after two years of marriage and more than a decade together. Offer said the decision to divorce was made “for the health of the family”.

The couple, known collectively as Brangelina, married in 2014 after 10 years together. Her six children include sons adopted from Cambodia and Vietnam and a daughter adopted from Ethiopia. They announced the ceremony days later.

Pitt and Jolie met while filming the action comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith, in which they played married assassins. Jolie Pitt, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, became an outspoken voice for refugees and various causes in Africa, as well as for breast cancer treatment after undergoing a double mastectomy.
A request for comment to Jolie’s lawyer was not immediately returned, and a request to both Jolie and Pitt’s reps by Romper was also not immediately returned.
The couple married in private at their chateau in France in 2014. It made a mere $538,000 at the box office.
Though together for 12 years, Pitt and Jolie only Wednesday in August 2014.

Peter Walzer, a California lawyer who represented actress Katie Holmes in her divorce from superstar Tom Cruise, said in a phone interview it was unusual that Jolie sought sole physical custody and it was equivalent to saying Pitt was not competent to be a parent. “You do a film about bad marriage and you witness that behavior”.
