The 25-year-old has joined the struggling Championship outfit on a deal that will run until January 3, having only just signed a permanent deal with City.

And the club have now moved to secure his services after his contract at A-League side Brisbane Roar expired.

He left Brisbane in the summer following a dispute with the club over their failure to pay required superannuation contributions.

He made 91 league appearances in five seasons at the club, winning three A-League titles.

It has been reported that Brattan has signed a four year deal at the English Premier League side, which finished second last season.

He was called up to the Australian national team as a replacement for the injured Mile Jedinak in a recent World Cup Qualifier versus Bangladesh.

Bolton are bottom of the Championship after drawing 1-1 at home to Leeds United on Saturday.
