Braves, Blue Jays among eight clubs showing interest in Tim Tebow

Ross Atkins confirmed on Wednesday night that the Blue Jays did scout Tebow, but wouldn’t comment further, though he didn’t deny the report either. One of their scouts turned in favorable report.

This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, as it has been expected that someone will indeed sign Tebow.

Rosenthal hears that the Toronto Blue Jays are among the intrigued clubs, while Pedro Gomez of ESPN has reported that the Atlanta Braves are also interested in the failed National Football League quarterback.

“If it doesn’t work, we’ll be honest with Tim early, and we can move on”, he said, as quoted by Sports Illustrated “If it does work, it’s great for the Braves and it’s great for baseball”. Tebow, who hasn’t played baseball since high school 12 years ago, is not looking to cut any corners and wants to work his way up the minor-league ladder like everyone else. “It’s similar to when Michael Jordan or others have wanted to play”.

“We are interested in Tim because of his potential as a baseball player, not as a gate attraction”, Coppolella told ESPN on Sunday.

A few days ago it was reported the Rockies and Braves have emerged as two possible suitors for Tebow.

The probable goal of the MLB team that signs Tebow is to get him playing in the instructional league, which starts on September 17. “They went to see Tim more in the spirit of ‘Leave no stone unturned, ‘ and they liked what they saw. That is why we’re exploring the possibility of bringing him into the Braves organization”. He would of course start off in an instructional league along with maybe some winter baseball and try to hone his craft in the minors.
