Braves-Red Sox Runs
Braves starter Jhoulys Chacin kept the Sox’ offense in check for five innings (two earned runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts) before giving way to an Atlanta bullpen that allowed two hits over the final four innings.

It was that kind of night for the Red Sox, who couldn’t quite finish off sweeping the interleague series, which included two games in each city. Now, he struck out 14 Braves in becoming the first Red Sox starter to visit the eighth inning this season. Pierzynski allowed two passed balls and had a foul pop-up bounce off his mitt – much to the delight of Boston fans who cheered the muffed play.
The Red Sox will host the Yankees Friday in the first game of a three-game set at Fenway. Then there was Travis Shaw. Against right-handed pitching this year, Shaw is batting.368 (21/57) with a 1.043 OPS. It was only the third home run in eight games for the Orioles, who have scored just five runs in their last four games. You have to like Boston to remain red hot. Buchholz is 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA and seven strikeouts in his career against the Braves. Adonis Garcia and Drew Stubbs have Atlanta’s other homers. And lose it they did.
The homer drought is the longest for the Braves in their 51 years in Atlanta. Bogaerts did not notice that he was safe at second, and started retreating back to the dugout.
It is tied with Philadelphia for the fewest runs in the majors and has been relying on singles and doubles given its lack of power and being one of the league’s few teams still without a triple.
After the Braves scored a run in the top of the second, Boston broke it open on Pedroia’s slam in the bottom half.
“It’s really hard to put into words”. “He was out of options so he was going to be with us at the start of the season, so. things break his way and he has run with the opportunity”. It’s the start we didn’t want.
Asked after the game what makes his knuckler so effective, Wright just said, “I have to idea”. “It’s not fun right now”.
1 run, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 left on.
Price recorded five different 1-2-3 innings, and none of the six hits he surrendered went for extra bases. They’d add a fifth run in the sixth, and while Buchholz would pitch into the seventh, getting deep in a game isn’t terribly helpful when the innings you offer are bad.
“No disrespect to Peterson, you’re wanting to force contact”, Farrell said. “Very good through the eight innings”.
Although he has noticeably struggled in the postseason up to this point in his career – now holding a 0-7 with a 5.12 ERA in eight career playoff games – his overall ability makes him one of the elite pitchers in the game and the legitimate ace of any pitching staff. Clay Buchholz takes the hill, and he’s 0-2 with a 6.33 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season.
1 run, 2 hits, 1 error, 2 left on. He has 10 doubles and is responsible for 10 of his team’s 33 extra-base hits.
“I did? Good for me”, Ortiz said, smiling when told of the feat. “That’s what happens when you play for a long time”.

Buchholz (0-3) allowed eight hits and surrendered four costly walks, allowing the Braves to win their first game since April 19th.
