The Atlanta Braves will call up top prospect Dansby Swanson from Double-A MS, the club announced Tuesday.

According to Bill Baer of NBC Sports, the shortstop position opened up following Atlanta’s decision to trade Erick Aybar to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Detroit recently lost Jose Iglesias to a hamstring injury and has been using Dixon Machado and Andrew Romine at shortstop.

Aybar, 32, has posted a career-worst.242/.293/.313 line with two home runs in his first season with the Braves.

Aybar was acquired on November 12 with minor league pitcher Sean Newcomb as part of the trade that sent Gold Glove shortstop Andrelton Simmons to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Swanson out of Vanderbilt with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.

Aviles was hitting.210 in 68 games with the Tigers.

Scivicque, 23, was the Tigers’ 4th-round pick last season out of LSU and has hit.282/.325/.380 in 105 games for High-A Lakeland so far this season.

The Tigers are giving up a somewhat legitimate catching prospect in Kade Scivique in order to acquire Aybar.
