The Spanish manager has made contact with former club Barcelona and is set to bring Chile’s goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, 33, to the Etihad.

It is understood there is an agreement in place for City to sign Chile global Bravo from Pep Guardiola’s former club, with the fee in the region of £17m.

Pep Guardiola has signalled the end of 29 year-old Joe Hart’s Manchester City career.

The England No.1’s future as a Citizens star has been the subject of intense debate since he was dropped for Pep Guardiola’s first competitive game in charge of the club on Saturday, a 2-1 win over Sunderland.

Manchester City have agreed a €16 million deal to sign Claudio Bravo with Barcelona, according to Marca.

Guardiola had hoped to bring in Barca’s other keeper, Marc-André ter Stegen, but with the Spanish side refusing to sell the German global, his teammate Bravo is the next best option. The German was signed in the same year as Bravo and the two have since shared competitions under Luis Enrique’s watch, with Bravo playing the La Liga matches and Ter Stegen taking the European and cup ties. Bravo is still expected to stay with the side for the Spanish Super Cup second leg on Wednesday against Sevilla, then travel to England and sign his contract. “But deal complicated because Barcelona keeper Ter Stegen is injured”.
