Brazil arrests first suspect after shocking gang-rape video
It is reported that police are hunting 30 men in connection with the attack and have issued arrest warrants for four suspects, including the girl’s 19-year-old boyfriend who is wanted for rape, and two others for distributing the video.

The crime came to light after several accused joked about the attack online, posting graphic photos and videos of the unconscious, naked teen lying on floor and shared picture on Twitter.
According to the girl’s statement to police, she woke up last Sunday, naked and injured, and headed home.
She said: “It’s the stigma that hurts me the most”. Other reports said that the girl was visiting her boyfriend’s house in the area when the assault happened.
According to Portella, this “rape culture” could be fought with more mechanisms to protect victims and to hold attackers accountable.
Temer issued a statement that he was “totally shocked and outraged by this barbarity”, referring to the 16-year-old girl’s rape in particular, announcing that he had called the nation’s Minister of Justice to his office to discuss how best to address the growing number of rape reports nationwide.
The assault and its social network aftermath have prompted a furious debate about attitudes toward women, rape culture and online psychological violence. The incident occurred in a Rio de Janeiro slum over the weekend.
The girl’s grandmother told Brazilian media the family had watched the video and cried. Hundreds of people took to the streets of Rio de Janeiro and took to the internet, using the hashtag #EstuproNuncaMais (RapeNeverAgain).
In a message posted on Facebook, the victim said she was thankful for the support she had received and added: “I really thought I was going to be badly judged”. He has also vowed to create a federal police force focused exclusively on violence against women.
“I regretted watching it”. A partnered study in 2014 between the Institute for Applied Economic Research and the United Nations Women’s Brazil branch discovered that nearly two-thirds of respondents thought a woman dressed provocatively deserves to be raped, reported Al Jazeera.
Mr. Bolsonaro’s political reputation did not appear to suffer; an opinion poll recently founded that he is the top choice for president of the wealthiest 5 per cent of Brazilians.
With greater visibility also comes greater concern about the problem of violence against women in Brazil.
“The Rio Canine Intervention Brigade hadn’t been trained in this type of approach”, said RAID trainer Christophe B., who withheld his full name for security reasons. The attack on this young woman is also an aggression against all women.
