But they got their victor through Raul Ruidiaz, who seemed to use his lower arm to turn the ball into the back of the net with 15 minutes remaining at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
Ruidiaz wheeled away to celebrate and Uruguayan referee Andres Cunha signalled for the goal.

Peru (2-0-1) won Group B, and it advances to meet Group A runner-up Columbia in a quarterfinal match Friday in East Rutherford. The referees spent almost three minutes considering the incident before letting the goal stand but with enhanced video replay, there really wasn’t much to discuss.

Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho received an unwanted birthday present in the shape of a plane ticket home as Brazil were knocked out of Copa America by a controversial goal by Peru. Brazil’s players protested, but the disputed goal stood.
I remember watching that slaughter they received from Germany in the last world cup, when their entire team failed to show up and perform – conceding 7 as a result. The victor of Sunday’s Brazil-Peru match will take the top spot in Group B and face Colombia, with Brazil taking first in case of a tie.
“It was practical, we defended when we had to defend [and] hit at the time we had to”, he said.
