A fan favorite at the Bridge, Luiz is set for an emotional return to the London club on deadline day Tuesday, having expressed his unsettlement in PSG.

In as far as Luiz is concerned, Chelsea are said to have offered £32m for him but PSG turned them down.

While social media goes into meltdown over the prospect of the Brazilian’s return, the Guardian claims Fiorentina’s Marcos Alonso is in London to finalise a £23 million move after agreeing to personal terms.

Luiz’s first spell at Stamford Bridge saw him win the Champions League and Europa League – but also prompted criticism for his erratic performances. “I can’t wait to wear the shirt and play in Stamford Bridge again”.

Chelsea have reportedly paid £32 million to secure the services of the 29-year-old centre-back.

Initially arriving in London in 2011 from Benfica for a fee of €25 million, the Brazil global made 81 appearances, scoring six goals.

John Terry and Gary Cahill are manager Antonio Conte’s first-choice pairing, but the Chelsea boss is keen to add experienced competition to his defensive ranks.

Conte will hope his Deadline Day dealings can follow suit as Alonso looks to compete for the left-back position whilst old fan favourite Luiz is back after two years at PSG.

David Luiz has re-signed for Chelsea in a transfer deal which has stunned the football world.

“I’m delighted to return to Chelsea”. “It is an interesting move and I hope he will help us win titles”.
