Rio police said Ireland team leader Kevin Kilty, chief executive Stephen Martin and secretary general Dermot Henihan are accused of illegally selling Olympic tickets.

Adams also said that despite the special ticket scheme for friends and family of Olympic athletes, Pro10 told her they did not have tickets for any events in the Olympic sailing regatta, in which Lynch finished a respectable 32nd as he preps for a stronger challenge in Tokyo in four years’ time. They said that some of the tickets which had a face value of $1,000 were going for more than $8,000.

The emails, some of which were distributed here today, discuss ticket sales for the Olympic Games here between Hickey, President of the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) and Evans.

Pat Hickey, who has temporarily stepped down from his position as president of the OCI, is now being held at Bangu prison having been denied bail.

PRO10 “served to facilitate tickets for THG, so it could tout those tickets, disguised through hospitality services”, said Mr Ricardo Barbosa, another of the police inspectors.

Mr Hickey has his passport confiscated and is now being held at Bangu prison following his arrest last week.

Police in Rio seized their passports on Sunday.

Mr Delaney was named with William O’Brien, the acting president of the OCI, and Linda O’Reilly, who works as a PA in the OCI, in documents requesting they surrender their passports.

“We would like to hear from all parties, including Mr Delaney”.

A police spokesman said if Mr Kilty and Mr Martin failed to show for questioning, they would be called a second time. Mr Hickey’s lawyers said in a statement that, contrary to police reports, the OCI president did not try to escape when officers arrived at his hotel last Wednesday and did not try to resist arrest.

In Dublin, meanwhile, the Government is understood to be willing to upgrade its investigation into the Olympics ticket controversy to a statutory inquiry if witnesses refuse to co-operate with the inquiry it is in the process of setting up.

Hickey was originally challenged by Ireland’s sports and Transport Minister Shane Ross to include an independent member on the OCI’s original promised investigation but Ross was unceremoniously snubbed.

It is understood a clause is to be included in the terms of reference which would allow for the investigation to develop into a statutory inquiry if necessary.
