“They agreed to do so”, OCI said.

Agents took the passports of Team Ireland Chef de Mission Kevin Kilty, Dermot Henihen and OCI chief executive Stephen Martin. The court order authorized the seizure of their passports, but none of the three are in Brazil. None of the officials was arrested, the OCI added.

The OCI’s Dublin-based public relations agency said three Irish personnel had passports, phones and laptops confiscated.

It follows a Brazilian police raid on Irish Olympic officials on the last day of the Rio Games, where they also seized computers, cellphone, and unused tickets in a rapidly expanding investigation.

The Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) said police had met some of its officials during the raids and asked them to appear at a police station for questioning on Tuesday (Wednesday NZT).

Mr Delaney, who is vice-president of the Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI), was named on a warrant with Willie O’Brien, acting president of the council, and Linda O’Reilly, personal assistant to the president.

The names of the members of the Executive staff of the Olympic Committee were mentioned by Pat Hickey in his evidence given to the police.

Hickey, now a member of the International Olympic Committee’s executive board, is accused of plotting with at least nine others to illegally sell tickets for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, HuffPost Canada reported.

A judge is due to be appointed this week to head an independent inquiry in Ireland into the alleged ticketing scandal.

Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar has said there were no plans for a cabinet meeting yet to discuss Pat Hickey’s arrest.

Speaking at the annual commemoration for General Michael Collins and President Arthur Griffith in Dublin, Mr Varadkar said he supported the non-statutory inquiry announced by Minister for Sport Shane Ross.
