Brazil Through to Olympic Final

Skipper Neymar led Brazil from the front and nearly single handedly took the hosts to the final of the mens football in the Rio Olympics.

Max Meyer scored the equalizer for Germany in the 59th minute.

The ball bounced on into the net and Brazil, to all intents and purposes, were on their way to within 90 minutes of fulfilling their dream of winning that long-awaited Olympic gold medal in front of their own fans.

Manchester City’s new £27 million ($36 million, 31 million euros) wonder kid Gabriel Jesus piled on the pain for Honduras with two more goals before the break. But the team picked up the pace and will face Germany, which beat Nigeria 2-0 in the other semifinal.

“That was the World Cup”. He plays for Barcelona and even made some great achievements in the game and yet another World Record and even Olympics Record in Rio Olympics 2016.

And after scoring 21 times in just five matches to guarantee at least a silver medal, Hrubesch said Brazil should be more concerned about facing his on-fire strikers than he is about stopping Neymar.

“I still believe in Brazilian football and when you have a star like Neymar, you have to be grateful because he rings you to a higher level”.

Brazilian fans had been hoping for a sort of rematch against Germany, which embarrassed Brazil 7-1 in the semifinals of the World Cup two years ago.

This is, of course, an overwrought way of building up a game in the Olympic football tournament, a glorified Under-23 competition that has little credibility now that clubs are not obliged to release players to take part.

The same player made it three eight minutes later, when he ran on to a superb 30-yard pass from Neymar to lift the ball over the Honduras goalkeeper and into the roof of the net. After conceding two to Mexico and three to South Korea in group play, they kept clean sheets seeing off Portugal and Nigeria. Neymar stepped up to take the shot and scored to give Brazil a 6-0 thumping.

The evening’s best entertainment came, as usual, from Bolt, who will go for his eighth Olympic gold medal Thursday. Marquinhos and Luan added a goal each to the tally after the restart to make it 5-0 with 11 minutes left before full time. “There has been a lot of pressure on him, but he is not your average player”. Replays show the ball hits the side netting and rolls along the back of the net giving the illusion it’s in basically what I’m saying is that it’s still 4-0 and it wasn’t a goal.

Playing at home and with Neymar, Brazil is taking the Olympic tournament more seriously than ever.
