Brazil women beat U.S., ending Walsh Jennings’ golden run
The night before, several players attended the beach volleyball match featuring American stars Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross.

Walsh Jennings hugged and kissed her husband, Casey Jennings, after successfully making it onto the podium for the fourth Olympics in a row, this time without her retired former partner Misty May-Treanor. Walsh Jennings stuffed Talita to post an 11-8 U.S. lead, before Ross bounced a shot off the sand for a big four-point lead at 13-9.
The First Lady of sand will pair with April Ross in a women’s beach volleyball semifinal Tuesday in Rio with the goal of reaching the final, where she would compete for a fourth consecutive gold medal.
“I don’t agree”, she said.
“I wasn’t afraid out there, it was very poor execution on my part in a very fundamental part of the game and we played a match against an incredible team”.
Following Monday’s win, Walsh Jennings was asked whether she is thinking about winning gold. I’ve been served aggressively this whole tournament, when people serve at me, and so has April.
Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst beat Canada 21-14, 21-14 earlier in their quest for Germany’s first Olympic medal in women’s beach volleyball.
What Michael Phelps has been to U.S. Olympic swimming, Walsh Jennings has been to beach volleyball, proving it’s never too late to add to your legacy. All of that is why instead of chasing gold, they will play in Wednesday night’s bronze medal match against another Brazilian duo, Larissa and Talita.
“Kerri chasing that ball down was the little mojo we needed”, said Ross.
A new approach to strength training. Walsh Jennings didn’t sleep last night, and Ross spent much of the day in bed visualizing how she could motivate for the bronze-medal match. Walsh Jennings came alive to register back-to-back blocks to seal the victory for the Americans. Just like in Tuesday’s loss, they allowed their opponent to get five aces on them, only this time they hadn’t gotten any in return.
“The roles have been reversed before; I could have done a lot more”. Ross and Walsh Jennings had won the previous two matches and led 3-1 heading into the Rio semi-final. “I think Talita had some issues and I want to attack her and make her feel very uncomfortable, but I want to focus on my handling and everything else will take care of itself”. “I need to keep everything freely moving so nothing gets bound up”.
Walsh Jennings works with a trainer and on her own with a vibrating ball.
Maximizing her mental muscles. But Walsh Jennings is far from finished.
Teammate Nadine Zumkehr also said it would take her a while to appreciate what the experience. “It wasn’t easy for her”, Menegatti said.
“On my iPad, I have this headgear on it that collects your brainwaves, your beta waves”.

Conversely, the United States men failed to medal in the 110 meter hurdles for the first time ever as Devon Allen finished 5th, just 0:07 off the medal stand. You’re shooting free throws.
