Brazilian Ramos, China’s Chen barred from Rio Games for doping
Brazilian cyclist Kleber da Silva Ramos and Chinese Wimmer Chen Xinyi have been disqualified from Rio 2016 following positive doping tests.

She later accepted a “provisional suspension” after testing positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and subsequently pulled out of her final event, the 50-meter freestyle.
For its part, the Chinese Swimming Association has said that it will launch a “thorough investigation” into Chen’s doping test result.
Diuretics are outlawed as they can be used as masking agents for other doping products.
It would “punish those responsible in accordance with the truth and law”, it said, adding that China conducts 15,000 doping tests a year with only two out of every 1,000 failing in recent years.
A statement from the Court of Arbitration for Sport added that the respective global federations will rule on potential sanctions beyond the Olympic Games. Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav has also been banned from competing in Rio on the eve of his first bout in Brazil due to failed doping tests at home earlier this year.
Directly afterward, Chen asked the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to test sample B and applied for a hearing into the matter.
The pair accepted provisional sentences and the sanctions for their offences will be decided by their respective governing bodies, the International Cycling Union (UCI) and the International Swimming Federation (FINA).

“Although we have been making progress in battling performance-enhancing drugs, this case once again serves as a warning that anti-doping campaign is a complicated and formidable task and needs longtime and consistent efforts”, said the statement.
