Brazilian Ronaldinho gets tumultuous welcome in Kerala

Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho on Monday escaped from a freak accident in Kozhikode in Kerala when a traffic signal pole collapsed in front of his auto he was travelling in.

He was on his way to a function in a goverment school when a old unused signal collapsed. “Seeing it, he smiled and the vehicle sped away, negotiating the fallen post”, said Kumar.

Legendary Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho has arrived in Kozhikode, Kerala, ahead of the relaunch of Sait Nagjee Trophy, which is being restarted after a gap of 21 years.

The player was eventually persuaded to leave the hotel and attend the event as promised, and hundreds of fans got to see the 2002 World Cup victor in person.

Ronaldinho at the Kozhikode International Airport on Sunday. He has also featured for top clubs such as Paris St. Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan. Even today morning at the school, he was just waving his hands and saying hi to all.

Eight teams from seven countries are taking part in the tournament. The last time the tournament was held in 1995, JCT Mills beat Dempo Goa to clinch the title.
