Brazilian rugby player gets Olympic marriage proposal

After watching the final between Australia and New Zealand, Enya, a manager at the stadium, took to the pitch for a special announcement of her own.

Enya, grabbed a microphone on the sidelines and delivered an emotional speech expressing her love for Isadora. “I know rugby people are unbelievable and they would embrace it”, she said.

“She is the love of my life“, Enya told the BBC.

In front of coworkers and fellow rugby teammates, Enya put a ring on it, and the crowd went wild.

Curello grew up in the United States but moved to her parents’ native Brazil in order to pursue her dream of playing 7s on an worldwide level, and it was there where she met Enya who reportedly describes Curello as “the love of my life“.

Isadora Cerullo, 25, was part of the Brazil squad that missed out on reaching the knockout rounds.

The couple live in Sao Paulo, where Cerullo has been focussing on training for the inaugural Olympic event.

Last night was an historic evening as it marked the first ever medals awarded for rugby sevens in the Olympics, but it was a little bit more special for one player.

“I wanted to show people that love wins”.

Same-sex marriage has been legal in Brazil since May 2013, when a supreme court ruling legalised it across the entire country.
