While Brees continues to pass milestones, the Saints continue to struggle.

The referees concluded Cooks was down a yard short of the end zone, which gave New Orleans a first down with 57 seconds left in the half.
Brees wasn’t done, hooking up with longtime receiver Marques Colston on an 11-yard touchdown pass to bring the Saints within 28-20 with 10:06 remaining.
The Detroit Lions behind quarterback Matthew Stafford led 28-3 in the third quarter before New Orleans rallied.
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (9) passes in the first half of an NFL football game against the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans, Monday, Dec. 21, 2015. With 4:22 remaining in the game, Saints tight end Benjamin Watson caught a fourth-down pass as he was heading out of bounds. “A lot of teams in this league get down and go into the tank and just look forward to the offseason”. You’ve got a real good quarterback that you’re facing. We have to win out for our pride more than anything else at this point.
“Obviously, if you complete 88 percent, that’s rare”, Lions coach Jim Caldwell said of Stafford. “It’s very hard to do that versus air. He was huge for us and spread it around quite a bit”.
New Orleans could compile their worst record in the Sean Payton-Drew Brees era with a loss in one of the final two games.
But the Lions put the game away on Bell’s 1-yard run with 5:24 left, making it 35-20.
The Saints managed to gain a few yards on two desperation plays but time ran out on them.
Rookie running back AMEER ABDULLAH (9 carries for 77 yards and 1 score) was the second Lions rookie to score a touchdown in this game, as he took a Stafford handoff 15 yards down the left sideline without being touched by a single Saints defender. Brees reached 60,000 career passing yards on Monday, joining Peyton Manning, Dan Marino and Brett Favre as the only players to reach that milestone.
“I dont know what we got going here”, he told reporters, per Nick Underhill of The Advocate.
The Lions responded by going 76 yards on nine plays in a drive kept alive by a 10-yard catch by Tate on third-and-4.
“The timeout was granted inadvertently on that play”, Morelli told a pool reporter after the game.
The Saints finally got on the scoreboard with an actual touchdown, when Cooks got behind the defense to snare a Brees pass that the receiver turned into a 27 yard score.

On Colston’s catch, the official had to make a judgment call on whether veteran right guard Jahri Evans was too far into the end zone when the pass was thrown on fourth-and-goal from the 1. But Detroit finished out the first half with two more touchdown drives – a four-play, 65-yarder that ended on a 4-yard pass from Stafford to Michael Burton, and a 10-play, 69-yarder that concluded on a 5-yard pass from Stafford to Tate – and the Saints closed out the half in frustration. “It also helped us keep the ball out of their hands”.
