Brees interception wreaks havoc in fantasy leagues
New Orleans will play host to a struggling Tennessee Titans team in week nine, who has recently fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Drew Brees was the week’s biggest story for fantasy owners, and it was no different in this contest, as the QB was owned by just 3.6% of contestants and put up 47.54 points, which is the highest total of the year. It’s the closest to normal he’s looked this season since having his surgery, and he expects to begin taking on bigger role, beginning this week against the Tennessee Titans. The Saints won a thriller in the last matchup of the teams, 22-17, on December 11, 2011 in Nashville when the defense turned back the Titans’ offense after reaching the New Orleans 24 and 5 on its last two drives.
“Are we going to go out and change the whole offense? As far as preparation, he’s one of the best defensive players in the league when he’s playing, so we’ll have a plan for it and just do the best we can”. Defensively, the Saints yield 275.7 yards in passing and 129.1 yards in rushing.
“You can’t always go off of past stories”, Cooks said. You know what? He’s come along and he improves every week. His status remains up in the air for this game. “We’ve talked an terrible lot about being able to tackle well”. Like I told them in there (locker room), there is a little test each week and you gain from experience.
Just like I predicted, the Saints are 4-4 after eight games…except, I’m not patting myself on the back whatsoever, because the way they got there is anything but what I envisioned. I wholeheartedly believe that. If he’s ready, we’ll play him. “I was out there last week, but it felt even better this week, actually getting into a rotation, knowing the plays and executing my plays”. “So we’re really going to have a chance to do something unique”. “I can go off a game like that”. Now I know what it is.
Without Donnell, rookie free agent Will Tye is the only tight end on the roster.
Cornerback Prince Amukamara was back at practice on an individual basis less than a month after suffering a partially torn pec muscle. Brees, stepped out onto the Superdome’s turf and went to work in such a fashion, that folks were pulling out the record books at halftime.
For the Giants, Randle (hamstring), Cruz (calf), LB Jon Beason (ankle/knee), DB Craig Dahl (neck), TE Larry Donnell (neck), DE Owa Odighizuwa (hamstring), OL Geoff Schwartz (ankle) and LB J.T. Thomas III (ankle) did not practice.
Tackle Will Beatty (pectoral) will continue to increase his workload. He is on the physically unable to perform list (PUP) and the Giants must decide next week whether or not to activate him, or keep him out for the season.
Coughlin then went on a mini-rant about injuries.
Be sure to try your arm at the Chevron football toss near Gate D and get a Saints-Chevron rally towel and NFL approved bag.
