Brees sharp despite foot injury, Saints beat Jaguars 38-27
If ever the results of the MRI are unfavorable, it is likely that the Saints will tap Matt Flynn to start Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

And he did it basically with one foot tied behind his back. The only problem was that it seems that only Drew Brees and the Saints got the memo that the game had begun as New Orleans jumped all over the Jags early on. I think this is where Gus the Head Coach has to step in and say, “Kick it”. “That’s all I was focused on”.
The Saints improved to 6-9 and can avoid their first 10-loss season in the Sean Payton-Drew Brees era with a win next week at Atlanta.
Brandin Cooks caught a 71-yard touchdown pass to highlight his 123 yards receiving. “Our record doesn’t indicate what we have put together, but if we win out, we went out on a good note”. Don’t worry; we are here for your help.
The Saints raced to a 24-0 lead and never looked back. Hightower rushed for more than 100 yards for the first time since December 12, 2010, when he played for the Arizona Cardinals.
Brees, who has been listed as questionable on the injury report, is working through one of the most hard seasons of his career, both because of the team’s struggles and his own physical adversity. But Brees hardly looked fazed.
The Jaguars secondary reminds me of the counter measures the evil empire takes to shield the Death Star/Star Killer Base (There is your star wars reference – you’re welcome).
If the results in the coming few weeks shake things up more though, then the Redskins could get a game against the 9-5 Minnesota Vikings, which is another daunting prospect for Washington.
Drew Brees’ right foot was hurting. If he can’t plant and throw, then this game could get out of control in favor of the Jaguars. If so, it was a great finale for a great Saint. “He’s made decisions like this before that are team decisions”. Brandon Coleman was a big part of the offense’s efficiency with four catches for 45 yards, including two big ones on third down. “We know next year we have to eliminate those big plays. The road he’s traveled to get back to the highest level is unbelievable”. Bortles hit Allen Robinson for 90-yard TD to bring the Jaguars back to 31-19.
When pushed to qualify what “every intention” means, Brees asserted, “I’m going to play”. The score came on a 17-yard pass from Brees to tight end Michael Hoomanawanui. But it was at least another reminder that this young team still had some fight in it late in the season. He ranks No. 4 in National Football League history in passing yards with 60,168 and needs just 1,194 more to pass Dan Marino for third all-time.
The Saints played on Monday against the Denver Broncos, with New Orleans losing out 35-27.
Payton said Brees, who has one more season left on his current contract, would be held out if Saints trainers were concerned about the risk of worsening the injury or exposing Brees to undue contact from pass rushers because of a lack of mobility.
