Brentford sack Marinus Dijkhuizen and promote Lee Carsley as head coach
Brentford have appointed former Coventry City defender Lee Carsley as their head coach for the rest of the season.

Dijkhuizen has paid the price for a run of just two wins in eight games that has left the club 19th in the Championship.
Carsley has been promoted from his role as manager of the development squad after owner Matthew Benham felt it was time for a change.
Dijkhuizen had replaced the popular Mark Warburton at the end of last season, and was part of a significant restructuring at Griffin Park, in which the head coach would be expected to work alongside a sporting director, with mathematical modelling and statistical analysis used prominently in the club’s recruitment strategy.
He left City under Steven Pressley, joining the Bees in the summer.
Brentford today sacked head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen following their poor start to the season.
Lee Carsley will take charge of Brentford until the end of the season, the Championship side have announced.
The statement continued: “The Club believes Lee deserves the opportunity to step up and help shape Brentford FC’s future on the pitch”.
Summer recruit Josh McEachran sustained a broken foot in training, while Spanish sensation Jota got crocked on the opening day of the campaign.
His final game at the helm saw Brentford lose 2-1 at home to a last-minute Sheffield Wednesday goal on Saturday.

Former Derby County duo Lee Carsley and Paul Williams will be in charge of Brentford for their match against the Rams this weekend.
