Bret Bielema says beating Texas was ‘borderline erotic’

He sees the upward swing, feels the momentum changing and knows that the University of Arkansas football program is on the rise.

So when the coach met with his players recently he curtailed some of the buzz and excitement surrounding the Razorbacks by reminding them, again, of the “tremendous challenge” that lies ahead. “That was the point where we realized we can beat these teams”.

“Coach Spurrier has been awesome to my wife and I at every event we ever went to”, Bielema said Wednesday during SEC Media Days at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham.

That doesn’t mean that the coach didn’t enjoy himself.

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen has All-SEC quarterback Dak Prescott and a tantalizing take on the West. “We’re a Nike school”.

Case in point? Arkansas’ Bret Bielema.

Bret Bielema gained a lot of extra attention with his shoes Wednesday. That’s just how Bielema wants it.

More and more, coaches across the country are using social media in general and Twitter specifically as a recruiting tool, using those types of sites to connect with potential recruits and continue to build a relationship with the players who could end up on their squad.

Is it just me or are we getting really close to “E!”

From 0-8 to 2-6 to SEC West contender? The SEC may have beat the MAC 22 times in a row since 2010, but Coach Campbell and his staff will have his team believing they can win, and that’s half the battle.

“Being able to pull out victories against LSU and Ole Miss, a team that was ranked in the top 5 at one point in the season, that gave us a lot of confidence”, said Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams, one of two 1,000-yard rushers returning this season.

Specifically, the Razorbacks play at Tennessee and at Alabama on October 3rd and 10th, respectively, and at Ole Miss and at LSU on November 7th and 14th, respectively.

Don’t say that you haven’t been warned if you have yours eyes – and heart – set on playing football in Fayetteville under Bielema.

But the Razorbacks have one of the SEC’s toughest schedule, especially on the road. Tennessee, by the way, had its first winning season at 7-6 since going 7-6 in 2009. I’ve turned down players based on their Twitter handles, I’ve turned down players based on Twitter pictures.

Bielema said the biggest asset for this team is its record turnaround.
