Brevard County deputy shot
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said during a news conference early Friday that his deputies were working with the Titusville Police Department to take a woman at the Port St. John home into custody. Deputies returned fire and shot the suspect. Deputies were conducting a criminal investigation into prostitution activities and attempted to arrest a female occupant at a residence in that location.

Ivey said deputies were wearing clearly marked tactical vests and were in the neighborhood responding to complaints of prostitution.
The deputy and male suspect were transported for medical treatment. One deputy was hit. He was listed in stable condition.
“We are really right now focused on the well-being of our deputy and we are right now trying to make sure that his family is cared for at this time”.
The Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident, which is customary.
Upon conclusion of the investigations, the cases will be presented to the State Attorney for review. His identity has not been released.
The other deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
