The Brewers and Mariners have swung a trade that will send infielder Luis Sardinas to Seattle in exchange for outfielder Ramon Flores, a source has confirmed to Major League Baseball Daily Dish.
This trade is the fourth deal Mariners General Manager, Jerry Dipoto, has made this month.
Flores, 23, brings just 12 games worth of major league experience to the table.
The Yankees traded Flores to the Mariners in July. His season ended this year with a broken leg with Seattle’s Class AAA club. Flores wasn’t certain to be ready by spring training and he’s also out of minor league options.
With the Brewers in 2015, Sardinas began the year with Triple-A Colorado Springs, earning a call-up in mid-May. He was acquired by the Brewers from Texas, along with RHP Corey Knebel and RHP Marcos Diplan, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Yovani Gallardo and cash considerations on last January 19. Sardinas played in 36 games for the Brewers, splitting time at short, second and third but batted only. 282 with a. 319 OBP, 17 doubles, one triple, one homer and 33 RBI. A few of these types of deals will likely occur on Friday, as teams clear 40-man roster spots before the deadline to protect players who are eligible for the Rule V draft in December.
