Brewers offense stays quiet in 3-1 loss to Pirates
Milwaukee Brewers’ Jonathan Villar reacts after hitting a solo home run during the third inning of a baseball game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, in Milwaukee. “I’ve just got to keep trying to learn from the guys who have been here a while”, Arcia told Journal Sentinel.

The Pirates were still down 1-0 in the sixth when John Jaso, of all people, hit a second-deck homer to right to tie the game. The Brewers offense staked him to an early 5-1 lead, but the wheels fell off for Nelson in the fourth inning as the Pirates struck for five runs and chased the right-hander from the ballgame.
“That’s a tough one to swallow for him over there”, Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said.
Polanco then put the Pirates back ahead with his bases-clearing double off reliever Blaine Boyer (1-3) with one-out in the sixth, giving the Pirates a 9-6 lead that stood.
Pirates: General manager Neal Huntington said after the game that a second opinion would be sought on the ailing right elbow of pitcher Gerrit Cole.
In the eighth, Starling Marte crushed a ball into the center field wall, Pittsburgh’s third solo shot, providing a two-run cushion for the Bucs, 3-1.
At Milwaukee, pinch-hitter Gregory Polanco had a tiebreaking three-run double and Pittsburgh rallied from four runs down to beat Milwaukee.
Nova is pitching like a staff ace so far in Pittsburgh before he hits free agency this winter.
SS Orlando Arcia extended his hitting streak to five games on Saturday with a first-inning RBI single against the Pirates. “It’s very refreshing to come here and do it the way that we did it tonight”.
Anderson again failed to get out of the sixth inning for Milwaukee – for the 11th time in his last 12 starts.
Josh Harrison stepped up with a spectacular effort Saturday to help the Pirates beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-6 in a thrilling offensive showdown. He’s struck out 22 and walked just four in 31 1-3 innings with a 2.87 ERA over his first five starts since being acquired at the trade deadline from the Yankees.
Brewers: RHP Junior Guerra (elbow) was scheduled to make on rehab start before returning to the team, likely when rosters expand on September 1. RHP Tyler Glasnow (shoulder), who threw three scoreless innings at Double-A Altoona on Monday, tossed three more scoreless innings in a rehab start on Saturday for Triple-A Indianapolis. The left-hander will make his third career start.

So, great series. With the win, the 67-61 Pirates moved within a game of the Cardinals (who are losing in the ninth) for the second Wild Card spot.
